Farmers in the Park unveils new market layout at Pen Park
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – Charlottesville Parks & Recreation is pleased to announce that Farmers in the Park is unveiling a new market layout at Pen Park, relocating across the parking lot to the east side beginning this Wednesday. While the market remains at Pen Park, the new layout provides more room for customers to explore, gather and relax while creating new opportunities for live music, entertainment and future community programming.
The new location offers wider walkways, additional seating opportunities and increased shade from several mature trees, making the market more comfortable during the summer months. The move also opens up the green space immediately north of the market, allowing for expanded community programming, including live music and future special events.
"We're excited about the opportunities this new layout creates," said City Market Supervisor Justin McKenzie. "The additional space and shade will improve the overall market experience while giving us more flexibility to host entertainment and community activities."
The market will continue to operate every Wednesday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Pen Park (1300 Pen Park Road).
Wind Down Wednesday canceled due to heat advisory
Due to the Heat Advisory in effect for the area, Wind Down Wednesday has been canceled this week. The decision was made out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of attendees and performers.
Farmers in the Park will remain open and operate during its normal hours of 3:00 to 7:00 PM.
Visitors planning to attend the market are encouraged to take precautions while outdoors by:
Drinking plenty of water and staying hydrated.
Taking advantage of shaded areas throughout the market.
Wearing lightweight clothing and sun protection.
Limiting prolonged exposure to the afternoon heat and checking on vulnerable family members and neighbors.
Charlottesville Parks & Recreation appreciates the community's understanding and looks forward to welcoming everyone to the market in its new location.
