Tree work on 5th Street SW scheduled to begin June 1

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – The Charlottesville Parks & Recreation Department will conduct tree maintenance work along the northbound and southbound lanes of 5th Street SW between the Cherry Avenue and Harris Road intersections beginning June 1. The work will include the removal of two trees and pruning of all trees located within the median.

Beginning June 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., traffic in both directions will be reduced to a single lane through the work zone. Tree work is expected to be completed by June 12, weather permitting.

Work zones will be clearly marked with construction cones, signage, and traffic-control devices to direct motorists safely through the area.

Motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians are encouraged to remain alert, follow posted traffic guidance, and use caution when traveling near active work zones.
