James "McCoy" PatrickJames "McCoy" Patrick, 81, of Nellysford, passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, in his home on Saturday, May 16, 2015. He was surrounded by all of his family at the time of his passing. He was born in Charlottesville on December 13, 1933, a son of the late James W. and Pauline Patrick.McCoy graduated from Rockfish Valley High School in 1952. After serving in the United States Army from 1953 until 1955 and the reserves for eight years, he worked at and retired from DuPont in Waynesboro in 1985 with 32 years of service. After retirement, he worked at Wachovia Bank in Nellysford for five years and then helped his sons, Barry and Steven, at Ashley's Market in Afton from the time it opened until March 2015.McCoy is survived by his wife of 61 years, Iris Davis Patrick; children, Gloria Patrick Sumter, Alan Patrick, Barry Patrick and his wife, Tammy, and Steven Patrick and his wife, Cherie; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Maybelle and her husband, Caskie Fitzgerald; and a brother, Thomas Wayne Patrick.The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home in Roseland, 434-277-5194.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
