CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA — Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT) is inviting job seekers and community members to explore careers in public transportation during its Career Fair on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at CAT headquarters, located at 1545 Avon Street Ext., Charlottesville, VA 22902.
The event will give attendees an opportunity to explore career paths throughout CAT, including transit operations, pupil transportation, the CAT Shop, and other critical support areas. Visitors can meet CAT employees, tour buses and the facility, learn about training and City benefits, ask questions, and apply on-site for available positions.
“CAT helps keep Charlottesville moving every day, and our employees are the reason that work is possible,” said Garland Williams, Director of Charlottesville Area Transit. “Our Career Fair gives people the opportunity to see the workplace firsthand, meet the team, ask questions, and learn how a career at CAT can make a meaningful difference in the community we serve.”
The Career Fair is designed to provide more than a traditional hiring experience. Attendees will get a firsthand look at CAT’s day-to-day operations and the people behind the service, from transit and school bus operators to mechanics, supervisors, and support staff.
CAT offers paid CDL training for operator positions, excellent City benefits, retirement and paid time off, flexible schedules for many positions, and opportunities for career growth. Available opportunities may include transit bus operators, school bus drivers and aides, mechanics, utility workers, supervisors, and other roles that help keep CAT’s buses, facilities, and daily service running.
Parking will be available on-site at CAT headquarters. Visitors may also park downtown and ride Route 2 directly to CAT from the Downtown Transit Station.
Community members are encouraged to stop by anytime between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM to meet the team, explore available careers, and take the next step toward a career with CAT.
