More than a dozen volunteers enjoyed the chilly fall morning Saturday, Oct. 2, at Greene County Community Park’s Park and Trail Cleanup Day. Beginning at 8 a.m., six teams spread out to pick up litter along the trails and roads leading into the park.

“Folks that walk the trails tend to pick up trash,” said Parks Director Justin Bullock. “There wasn’t a huge influx of trash, but it’s just a great morning to get folks out and help clean up the park.”

Amanda Jones and son Ryan were seen picking up along the roadway leading into the park.

“The kids got a pamphlet at school and while flipping through it we saw that this was here,” Jones said. “(Ryan) is pretty nature-conscious so the thought of cleaning up really appealed to him.”
