The seven "Hagemeyer" originals will go on public display for the first time June 17 at the museum's gallery space in Santa Rosa, Calif., as the centerpiece of an exhibition titled "Adults by Schulz." And some viewers will inevitably try to draw comparisons to "Peanuts."

"The poet's job is to make connections. Poets say, 'This thing is like this other thing.' And in fact, they say, 'This thing is this other thing,' making metaphor. As a museum director, I'm really interested in making meaning and helping people make those connections through what they see and what they experience," said Young.

The National Museum of African American History and Culture, the National Portrait Gallery and the Smithsonian American Art Museum and its Renwick Gallery will open May 14, followed a week later by the National Museum of American History, the National Museum of the American Indian and the National Zoo.
