Hartland Institute is offering a medical and dental clinic for area residents Sunday, Sept. 30. The clinic will provide free medical screenings and dental and vision care to the public from 8 a.m. to 4p.m. at the school’s Madison County campus.

If you’re older than 50, experts say a comprehensive dilated eye exam is in order, because many eye diseases have no early warning signed or symptoms, and only a comprehensive exam can detect them.

The treatments for glaucoma are effective, including medical therapy (eye drops), laser treatments and surgical treatments. The risk of vision loss is low once the disease is identified. The best way to reduce risk is to have an eye examination by an ophthalmologist.
