Several citizens spoke about the proposed FY22 Madison County Budget during a public hearing last week.
The regular meeting of the Madison Town Council became animated after Madison Free Clinic’s Executive Director Brenda Clements appealed to the council to create an ordinance to resolve a parking issue with neighboring business, BulletProof. Clements told members of the council that staff and patients of the free clinic have encountered problems crossing the street because parked cars in front of the gun shop impair visibility.
As Madison County Supervisors and planning commissioners await a response to correspondence sent to transmission project stakeholders, the question becomes “what’s next?”
Madison County officials are planning a response to the proposed Dominion Virginia Power and FirstEnergy transmission line project, including requesting more information, asking for additional time and also possible reversing last month’s zoning ordinance amendment that allows transmission lines and substations by-right in the B1 business zone.
The Madison County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a resolution to honor U.S. Army Corps First Lieuenant Robert Yowell by requesting the Commonwealth Transportation board name and dedicate the bridge located on Route 231 in Banco in honor of Yowell.
