Eloise Maupin Copps Eloise Maupin Copps, 104, of Charlottesville, Virginia, died on Friday, May 2, 2014, at the Laurels of Charlottesville. Born April 20, 1910, in Charlottesville, Virginia, she was the daughter of Napoleon Cloren Maupin and Lottie Young Maupin. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Harvey Alden Maupin, and Carson Leslie Young; and infant sister, Aliese V. Maupin. Eloise was known to friends and family as 'Tillie'. She is survived by a nephew, Stephen Young Maupin and his son, Michael Stephen Maupin and wife, Carlee of Raleigh, North Carolina, and his daughter, Heather Angelia Logan of Charlottesville. Heather has four children, Alexis, Connor, Jadyn, and Cason Logan. Tillie is also survived by a niece, Angelia Quint of Hillsborough, North Carolina and her daughter, Robin Quint Knight, husband, Ira, and son, Richard of Highpoint, North Carolina, daughter, Janet Loup Maupin Gajigianis, husband, Juan Macias-Vazquez, and son, Sonny of Raleigh, North Carolina and son, Peter A. Quint of Hillsborough, North Carolina. I would also like to recognize Robert and Lynn Mackle of Kansas City, Missouri for their care and support of Tillie over the years. Tillie was retired from the University of Virginia Medical Center, where she worked for the Department of Surgery. She also actively supported many charities. She was a longtime member of the Colonial Dames, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Huguenot Society of Virginia. A special thanks to the staff of the Laurels of Charlottesville who provided excellent care for Tillie during her stay there and to Mrs. Betty Jarman who also provided for many of Tillie's needs while she was at the Laurels. A graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to your favorite charity in Tillie's name.
