A school bus traveling near Scottsville caught fire Saturday evening, but everyone made it to safety, according to Albemarle County police.

At about 6 p.m., the bus was traveling north in the 5100 block of Monacan Trail Road (U.S. 29) near Cove Garden Road when it caught on fire. The bus was carrying students and staff from Fauquier County.

Everyone evacuated the bus and no injuries were reported, police said.

The northbound lanes of Monacan Trail were closed for about two hours while crews worked to put out the fire and clean up the scene.

Arrangements were made to get another bus to take the students back to Fauquier.
