The sudden downfall of 5-6 inches of snow on Monday, Jan. 3 was certainly pretty, but it came with a price: Thousands lost power due to downed tree limbs in the early hours of Monday morning. As of 9 a.m. Tuesday, Rappahannock Electric Cooperative was still reporting 77,242 members without power (45.4% of total membership) and Central Virginia Electric Cooperative reported 19,555 customers without power (51% of total). In Greene County, REC reported 1,901 (19%) of customers without power. CVEC reported that 100% of its Greene County members were without power.
