Fifteen artists from across the state participated in the Art Guild of Greene’s annual “Paint the Town Greene” plein air event on Saturday, Oct. 2. Artists came from Greene County as well as Harper’s Ferry, Fredericksburg, Barboursville, Earlysville and Troy.
Retired art teacher Leslie Barham served as juror for the event. After 30 years as an award-winning Virginia Beach Public Schools art teacher, Barham moved to Greene County in 2011 and has devoted her time to weaving together colored pencil, watercolor, acrylics, textured papers and fabrics into unique paintings. Winning Best in Show for the adult division was Patty Hudson of Ruckersville with her oil painting.
Winning Best in Show in the high school division was Amy Genz with her combination of watercolor and pen and ink.
Awards of Distinction went to Richard Wyvill from Fredericksburg with a palette knife oil painting and Joan Dreicer from Earlysville with her pastel drawing.
